The Ohio E-Book Story Challenge
At the 2002 Annual O.O.P.S! Conference in Chesterville, our featured teller, Dr. Flora Joy, challenged the storytellers of Ohio to write stories that will be compiled in a book of stories by Ohio storytellers. We have received many excellent stories, but not enough. So we have a new plan. Your story no longer needs to be a "twisted tale" - just a great story. We will now compile those stories chosen in an Ohio storyteller E-Book, which we will be able to update and also sell on the Internet.
Upcoming events at O.O.P.S!

Here are the guidelines:

(1) Prepare your own version of an original story. This story can be written for any age, and all story "rights" will remain with YOU. It can be personal, original and/or a story you tell. Be as crazy, creative, sincere, sad, far-out, etc. as you want to be.

(2) Prepare a cover sheet for your submission that contains the following:

Who's Who on the O.O.P.S! Board
  • Name of the nominator (if different from story author)
  • Name of story author
  • Regular mailing address of the story author
  • E-mail address of story author
  • Story title
  • Intended age of listeners
  • Approximate telling time of story
  • "Draft" level of story (first draft, etc.)
  • A short description of the crafting adventure
  • The author's willingness for the story to be considered for inclusion in the Ohio Collection.
  • The author's willingness to have readers tell the story.
Directory of Storytellers who will fill all of your needs
(3) Mail the cover sheet along with a copy of your story by August 31, 2005, to: Chris King, P.O. Box 221255, Beachwood, OH 44122. These stories will be "performed" for target age listeners as soon as we have enough stories. Those listeners will select 30 of their favorite ones, and the authors of those stories will be mailed a complimentary gift for their submission. (Note that the mailed items are not returned, so be sure to keep your original copy.)

Quarterly O.O.P.S! Newsletter
Members of O.O.P.S! receive a mailed quarterly newsletter (Winter issue in January, Spring issue in April, Summer issue in July, and a Fall issue in October). If you have information about events, what's happening in your club/guild or any other interesting storytelling information, the deadlines for submission are the 20th of the month previous to printing.
